Austerity Supper Served At College Function
The Horowhenua College -set a flne example when at a Social and dahce held t'o mark the end of the school term, an, austeri-ty supper was prepared and served by the giiis. ' As the proceeds of the function were to be set aside for the sehool's r "Help the Children" fund, it was thought that such .a supper would cut down the ..expepditure • and also bring the' realisation of Europe's plight - forcibly . t'o the attention of all. . Three hundred pupils wero present at the function which ' will in future precede other term endings.^ . Items were given during the eveiiing as" follows; — Reeitations :. Mafie ' Pescini, John Norton-. Betty Stern; songs:1 Trevor Walker and Lyhette Gibbons. M.C.'s - for the -■ evening were P. McClune and W. Dumbell. Members of the staff were also present at the function which was a great success.
