Plunket Society Wants Cows Tested For T.B.

DUNEDIN, May 3. Grave dissatisfaetion regarding tke testing for tuberculosis in cows supplving milk for town consumption, was expressed by delegates at a meeting ot j the Dominion Council of the Plunlcet Society today. It was claimed thaf the provisions ' of the- Act which required cows to be tested for tuberculosis, were not being complied witJh. One delegate drew attention to a statement recently made by a promment medical practitioner, that 15 per cent of persons dying from tuberculosis in New Zealand were 'originally infected from tubercular cows. After delegates lrad spoken of the danger to which adults and children were needlessly subjected through tne non-enforcement of the Act, the meeting resolved to urge the Governinent to enforee the Act and to reach a final decision on the amount to be paid as compensation for beasts eondemned as tubercuular reaetors.
