Only 16 of Vietoria's 90 trade unions participated. Members of tlie1 Australian Communist Party bore the flags of Australia and Communist countries of Eastern Europe. Three hundred. marchers chanted "Join the Communist Party" and "Outlaw the atom bomb". Fifteen thousand watehed the procession, mdstly in silence. Six thousand listened to the speeehes on the Yarra bank.
