R.S.A. President's Anzac Day Message
A moving appeal to the residents of the district to keep alive •the spirit of Anzac was made on Sunday by the president of the Levin branch of the N.Z.R.S.A., Mr. N. M. Thomson, during the citizens' service ih the Regent Theatre, "We believe that bv that spirit we are fortified 'in the fight fpr what we think is right," said Mr. Thomson. "We .believe t.hat the spirit of Anzac was exemplified on the beaches of Gallipoli and on many occasions before and since, and that by that spirit, and with the help of God, the British Empire and the free way of life for which it stands were enabied to emerge from the recent coriflict. . "I think that the spirit of Anzac was in the mind of that great man Winston .Churchill, when he used those famous words at a time when an insidious and nasty thing ha,d Engiand by the| throat and all the dire conse-i quences of continued resistance | were apparent. He ' said : 'Let it .roar and let it rage, we shall not falter or fail,' ' In- this spirit, ladies and gentlemen," concluaed Mr. Thomson, "let us rededicate our 'lives this and every year/'
