Closing Day On Levin Croquet Lawns
The Levin Croquet Club held its closing day recently when games were played during the afternoon and prizcs won during the year were presented. The president, Mrs. W. Bull, welcomed the visitors from the Otaki Club. The club had had a wonderful season, combined with good weather and plenty of play, she commented. Apologies were received from MesdameS Walker, Sherwood and W. Lett; who were unable to attend to present their respective trophies. Prizes' were won as follows: — Kirk Cup: Mrs> Pine; runner-up: Mrs. Dalzell. Walker Cup: Mrs. W. Bull; runner-up, Mrs. Hynes. Worsfold Badges: Mesdames Pine and Bull. Brown Buttons: Mesdames Dalzell (A) and Boulton fB) . Halfday tournaments : (A) Mrs. Palmer; runner-up, Mrs. A. Mudgway; (B) Mrs. Boulton; runner-up, Mrs. Bull. Sherwood Cup: Otaki Club (149 points) 1, Levin Club (143 points) 2, Shannon Club (116 points) 3; Manakau Club (111 points) 4. The Sherwood Cup was received by Mrs. Wilson, of Otaki, on behalf of her club, who said that it had competed for the cup for 14 years and had at last been successful in winning it. Afternoon tea was then served and play resumed.
