Maori names have suffSr'ed at the hands of Europeahs for many a decade, but surely' the New Zealand Railways Road Services, has reached an ail-time low. Once little more than a distant beach resort, Paraparaumu is now known throughout the cduntry as the airport of Wellington. The locals have alway.s murdered this Maori word by^ shortening it tov"Paraparam," but the Government has gone oue better by labelling its buses simply "Pram!"
