First Maori Woman Doctor

HASTINGS, April 14. When Mrs. Rena Moore, fohnerly Aliss Ropiha, of Waipawa, takes her degree next month, she will hecome the first Maori woman doctor in New Zealand. Her example was cited hy the Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett, Bishop of Aotearoa, as an illustration of the ability of memhers of the Maori race to succeed in any pursuit. Bishop Bennett said that Mrs. Moore met her hushand while they were studying at Otago University. She studied hard to within a few'days.of having her child and went hack to her studies as soon as possihle afterwards, leaving 5 her hushand to look after the bahy on , l the Plunket system.
