G. Holland, was received at yesterday's meeting of the Horowhenua Coupty Council. The appeal was being held at the direction of the General Assembly of the United Nations, and a Dominion executive committee, representing all sections of the community, had been set up and had accepted the responsibility for organising the appeal within New Zealand. This was a most worthy cause, commented the chairman, Mr. A. M. Colquhoun. He asked the members of the council to get behind the appeal and do what they could to further it. ' As local body representatives they had a duty to perform, and as it was an individual effort -.it was up to them- persondlly to see it through. Mr: Colquhoun suggested that meembers for the Otaki and Te Horo Ridings should co-operate with the Mayor of Otaki in . this regard, while the members for the Whirokino Riding would stand behind the Mayor of Levin, and the members for the Tokomaru Riding would .do the same with the Mayor of Shannon.
