Improvements At Waitarere Beach

Representations by the Waitarere Progressive Society have securcd one improVement and a recommendation that another be made to the general upkeep of the beach township. - The erection of three public conveniences at • Waitarere Beach by the Horowhenua County Council in the near future will be the result of a request made by the society. At yesterday's meeting 'of the council the committee set up to investigate the matter reported that the engineer had it in hand.j and that the siting of the conveni.ences would be made in conjunction with the society. Further to-this, it was decided to erect shelves and coat pegs in the ladies' conveniences, both at Waitarere and Waikanae. The Main Highway, s Board is to be requested by the County Council to forrn a two-way road and footpath at the entrance to the beach. This decision was made on the recommendation of a committee set up by the council to meet representatives of the Waitarere Pfogressive Society to discuss the matter. The road was badly needed and would supply a long felt want. commented Cr. D.»K. Guy. It was also recommended that two loads of clay be dumoed on the shoulders of the road near the beach.
