Artillery Research in Britain
WELLINGTON, Apnl 12. "The British Ariny is cfevoting a great deal of research work to arfillery, espeeially to anti-ai'rcraft artillery, ' ' -aid a'distingAished' New Zealand Army oliicer, Brigadier R. G. Querce, C.B.E., D.iS.O.y when he arrived from Britain on the Ruahine yesterday, "but," he added witli a sm'ife., "there have been uo publishod -fiudifig of such research as /et. ' ' ; It - was his own opinion, said Brigadier Queree, that the generai pattern oi :rtiilery and its role in the field woifhf not be tltered radically over the next few years despite the clevelopment oi rockets and guided inissiles. "There will be progress in artillery weapous 'and there will be progress in the derelopment- of rockets and air projectiles but for the army in the 'field, artillery is unlikely to undergo any radicui changes for the present. "I think that artillery and jet propelled .weapons niust work side by side and that the latter weapons will be more an ftddition to arfillery than n replaceinent, ' ; 4
