The radio added that the Americahs maintain two intermediate telephotie stations at Leipsig and Weimar which "are tlie only links in the Soviet Zone at Ameriean disposal, linking B.erlin with the entire ?>vorld aifd in, particular with Washington. ' ' The Russians have refused to renev entry1 permits for United States troops maintaining telephone and telegraph cables from Berlin across the Russian Zone to the United States Zone. The Russians said tlie dennan Reiehsposl Communications Company would maintain the lines unde'' Soviet supefyision The Russians offeied a'ssurances that . the cable would be kept functionihg. The United States Deputy Military .^overlioi, Majol'-Gendral Hays/ has ro quested the Russian military admjnistration to reconsider the deciStion.
