Cleric Worried At Trend Of World Thinking
There seeme'd to bfe a flaw ih the human fnind Which caused Hien faced with the tremendous task of constrUctihg and maintaining a cohesive social eommunity in the world to think iii terms of a majority that mitst oppose and erush a minority, said the Rev. A. Salmond, in St. An'drew's Presbyterian Chtirch last night. "Hitler endeavoured to realise the ideal of a German nation without Jews. Modern Russia appears to aini at the ideal of a confederacy ' of -natrons withotit capitalists. The modern democracies are ihcreasingly thinking in terms of an organisatiori of society from which Commtiists are excluded. Men seem to believe they" could realise their social ideals if the existence of some particular class or section of the eommunity were dispensed with, or to use current jargnn, which is very expressive, liquidated. "The Christian faith cuts across this erroneous and dangerous way of reasoning," continiied Mr. Salmond. "It- demands a realism which accepts the world of all men, and it ealls believers ih Christ-to go out and -serve all men in the spirit of love. For a congregation of Christian people to? begin to 'think in terms ; of ' thfe' ' "pe'optfe " W6* would 'do • without,' or the 'nice people we would like to have is a confession of spiritual sterility and barrenness. -Such thinking is a denial. and a ' betrayal of the Church's Lord." ,
