MILK MAY BE RATIONED
. — ■ — — ■ — Long Bry S^ell" Seriousfy Affects Production Unless ihe district gets a heavy fall of rain before the cold weather sets Ifl, thefe is etery likelihood of milfe rationihg being intraduced throUghout the Wellington province. This is the bpinion of the man-aging-secretary Of the Levin . Cooperative Dairy Company, Mr. J. MFarsOns. He said that there would be very little growth if the, rain cafne after the cold weather, and many farmers were already giving winter feed to their stock. . Over a period. of three.weeks the cbmpany's supply of milk to Wellington had dropped 1000 gallons a day, Mr. Parsons added. The amount of milk. forwarded to Wellington so far- this year was ; imich smaller than the amount sent during the same period la^t year, said the secretary, of the Kuku Manakau Co-operative Dairy .Company, -Mr. W.' Gwynn. -Milk was • in Very short supply, but. he eould not give any opihion on the probability- of milk rationing being introduced in the district. As far as Wellington and Palmerston North were cohcerned, he would not be surprised if some system of rationing was brought into operation in those two cities, He thought that there would probably be a cut fir'st in the manufacture of the luxury lines .such as ice creams. ,
