Hockey Competition Starts Next Saturday
The first meeting of the newlyformed Horowhenua Hockey association was held in Otaki recently and was presided over by Mr. L. V. Trass. Those present were: Mrs, Seal (secretary), Mr. Spiers (vicepresident) , Mr. Cottle (Te Horoj , Mr_ A. Welby (Rahui Men) , Miss Jacobs (Rahui Ladies), Mr. Baker (Raukawa Ladies). and Mr. B. Gardner (Levin Men). A number of apologies were received. At present there are four men's and four ladies' teams entered in the competitions which will begin next Saturday. Afflliation, registration and gr.ound fees were decided on and the club secretaries will be notified of the charges later. Thanks were aGcorded to the Levin and Otaki Borough Councils for making grounds available to the association. The meeting decided to affiliate with the North Island Women's Hockey Association, and it was left in the hands of the president te write to the New Zealand Men's Hockey Association and apply for afflliation. Members extended their thanks to Messrs. Nicolsom, Spiers and Tinwald for donations received. Mr. Trass commented that it was pleasing to hote the number of teams entered in the comnetitions. and added that there was still hope of teams froiji Ohau, Paraparaumu and "Foxton Catering. The draw for games next Saturday is as follows; — -At Weraroa: Levin Ladies V. Roukawa B, 3.15 p.m.; Levin Men A v. Te Horo, 2 p.m. At Otaki: Rahui Ladies v Raukawa A, 1.30 p.m.; Rahui Men v. Levin B, 3 p.m.
