Borough Council Meets

The usual fortnightly meetmg of ,the Shannon Borough Council was held on Tuesday evening. The Mayor (Mr. D. A. Fitzgeral-d) presided and those present were Crs. B. Claytoni V. J. Batenian, H. L. Norris, R. S. Downes, C. M, Crdnquest, L. G. Sayer,; C. G. Wishart and H. Aitchison. , Permission was granted the Shannon Football Club to take up a collection at the gates of the domain for a friendly football match on Saturday. The Poutu Maori Pah Improvement Committee was granted permission to hold a' street stall on April 16. It was resolved that not more than two street stall permits. shoul'd be allowed in any one month. The annual main highway estimates were left in the hands of the works committoe to complete. In connection with the annual review of main highways, it was resolved to plaee before Ihe Main Highways Board the request that Vance and Stafford Streets be declared an extension of highway. It was reported that the painting of the Municipai Buildings was almost 'compieted, Reference was made to the unsatisfactory condition of a bridge in Graham Street, giving access to Mr. Christopherson's .pronerty, and it was resolved that the works com- ! mittee have power to make the necessary repairs. , Accounts amounting to £257 4s 5d were passed for payment.
