First Two Frigates For N.Z. Navy
Received Thursday, 8.50 p.m. LONDON, April 8. It is understood that the first two frigates to be made available to New Zealand in accordance with Hon. P. Jones; announeement will be Loch Achanalt now at Sheerness and Loch Achray now at Portsmouth. The Admiralty has been requested to put thein iuto seagoing condition by the end of June wrhen Arabis and Arbutus a^ve with the crews. The situation in British doekyards, liowever, is reported to be "acute" and it is not possible to say at present when ■the frigates will be rcfady for the six weeks ' ' ' working up ' ? before sailing for New Zealand.
