Ryrie -witli large jardiniers of deep blue hydrangeas, golden dahlias and begonias in a low bowl set on tlie communion table (all from the garden of Mr. and Mra. K. Mitchell) for the wedding of Edna, youngest daughter of Rev. J. W. and Mrs. Martin, The Manse, Shannon, to William George, only son of Mr, and Mrs. J. Bain, Marin'oto Road, Shannon, which took plaee in perfect weather during the early afternoon of SaturJay, April 3. At the end of eaeh pew Tas fastened a sprig of heather picked from the garden of the bridegroom'a parenta, Mrs. Bain's brother, Mr. Ryrie, having aome 30 years ago, brought out the bush from Loch Lomond, Seotland. A further Scottish flavour waa added by Piper Roy Gunn of Wellington, playing "The Road to the Isles" as the bride arrived at the church eacorted"by her father. She wore a graceful gown of white embossed satin made with loug fitting sleeves, heart-shaped neckline and fitting scalloped edged bodice closely buttoned down the back from whieh fell a fully gathered skirt with a long scalloped odged train. A spray of lace fiowers held in plaee the long silk embroiderod net veil (a gift fr'om the brifiegroom's mother;. A bouquet of white chrysanthoinums, earnations and roses with maidenhair fern und the bridegroom's gift of a string of pearls compieted a eharming ensemble. The only bridesmaid, 8Miss Olive Martin oi' Wellington (sister of the bride;, wor'e a slightiy trained gown of old gold moss ercpe made on similar lines to that of the b'ride's with the cxeeption of short sleeves. She alse wore Ihe bridogroom's gift of a gold locket and chain and carried a bouquet of golden chrysanthemums with touches of deep blue delphiniums. These fiowers were i'eatured in ht-r head-dress and the blue rugs on which tlie bridal party stood added further colour. Alyth Caineron was a duinty flower girl dress ed in a long, i'rlll trimmed frock of pale blue organdie over blue taffeta. An upstai^liug friil of organdie adorned her dark curls uml she wore a silver and paua sliell brooch (_the gift of the bndegroom) and carried a dainty busket 'of blue seabiosa. Mr. John Guun ot" Wellington, carried out the duties oi' best man. The officiatiug minislers wero the bride 's father i Kev. J. W. Martin; and an old friend, Kew J. iiubbard, M.A., B.D., of St. Andrew 's Presbyterian Church, Palmerston N'orth. Atrs. R. N. Speirs of Foxton was the organist and the ushers were tlie bride 's brothers, Messrs. Toni and Da\id Martin of Shannon and Hastings respectively. While the register w as beiug signed Miss Helen Gunn of Wellington sang "Thanks be to Gt»d. ■' ' The bridal party and about 120 guests wero piped-to the nearby Ilruid.s' iiall where they wero receivod byr Rev, J. \V. and Mrs. Martin and Mr. and Mrs. Bain. Mrs. Martin wore black accessories with a pastel blue frock and a groy ' cout adorned with a scarlet spray of fiowers while Mrs. Bain was altired in a Frcnch floral silk frock and navy edge-to-edgo coat with a spray of red roses. Feiicitations were showered upon the uew ly-wodded couple prior to their. laking their places behind: tk© two-tier' white-iced wedding eake on the 'bri'daJ table. A crystal vasu of heather surmounted the eake and. heather appeared in the table decorations. Rev. J. Iiubbard was toastmaster and entertainnicnt was provided by a violin solo 1 jdayed by Miss Sandra Gunn, Wellingi ton, with Miss Helen Gunn at the piano, a song "She Shall Have Musie" rondered by Aliss Oiive Martin with Mrs. K. N. Speirs at the piano and a peal of wedding bulls realistically played by the bride 's father on the concertina. V lion Mr. and Mrg. Bain left for llieir houeymoon, which will be spent in Ihe Soutli Island, Mrs. Bain was weariug a mustard tailored costume, brown 'blouse and accessories. On their return tliey will take up residenee at "Marlnoto", Levin Road, where farming pursuita will be followed. Present at the wedding, besides many friends Who came from nearby district towns and ai'ar, were the following relalives:— - Mr. and Mrs. L. Martin (Palmerston. North), Mr. D, Martin (Hastings), Miss Olive Martin (Wellington;, Mr. M. Ryrie (Nelson), Mr. I). Ryrie, Mr. G. W. Ryrie, Mrs. Gunn, Misses Helen, Sandra and Betty Gunn, Messrs John ,and Roy Gunn (all of Wellington;, Mr. and Mrs. N. Anderson (Pahiatua), Mrs. D. V. Sutton (Masterton), Mrs. G. Ryrie and Miss Mary Ryrie (Levin). In the evening several of the guests wero entertained at the home of the bride 's parents where the many beautii'ul presents were viewed. Mr. and Mrs: J. Ryrie, Margaret Street, the former an uncle of the bridegroom, were also host and hostess for many reiatives und friends who were delighti'ully entertained by the talented Gunn family.
