Australia' s partnership with Britain in advanced aeronautical research, will he. signalised alniost immediately hy the development in Australia of a project of great ini- . portance. j It is nnderstood that the project, which will he sponso^ed hy the long ; range weapons organisation, will he a guided missile, prohahly a pilotless ( aircraft, and that work will he car- , ried out at Fisherman's Bend, Mel-hom-ne. ; Unofficial sources state' that the initial project will he for an aircraft ; with a speed exceeding 500 miles an hotu*, that with later developments it ' viill reach supersonic speed with ^ jet propulsion, and that radio and radar research will he carried on simultaneously. It is known that the British poliey is against .supersonic experiments with pitoted aircraft.
