EverjT ofliee in the Palmerston North Postal District has exceeded its National .Savings qiiota for the fmaneial year just ended. In his report, the distriet organiser, Mr. J. W. Prout, told the National Savings Oommittee yosterday that 1136 new accounts had been opened, and 1304 w-ere opened last year. In Pebruary 80 of the 91 aeeounts iu Palmerston North were on behalf oi group meinbers. The following table shows the total amount received during the year by the various towns and the percentage of annual quota gained: — Palmerston North £177,34.1 (194 per cent.), Apiti £6315 (434 per ceht.), Ashhurst £5052 (162 per cent.), Bulls £4198 (124 pei cent.), Dannevirke £47,272 (230 per cent.), Feilding £69,635 (318 per cent.), Foxton (£9i49 (147 per cent.), .Glen.. Oroua £1167 (374 per cent.), Halcombe £3921 (168 per cent.), Kimbolton £3196 (384 per cent.), Levin £49,735 (303 per cent.), Manakau £1917 (246 per cent.), Ohau £1492 (192 per cent.), Pahiatua £19,900 (193 per cent.), Pongaroa £4216 (290 per cent.), Rangiotu £348 (112 per cent.), Rangiwahia £2466 (263 per cent.), Rongotea £3295 (158 per cent.), Sanson £3295 (268 per cent.), Shannon £6556 (210 per cent.), Tokomaru £1174 (151 per cent.), Weber £999 (192 per cent.), .Weraroa £1113 (178 per ceut.), Woodville £11,882 (183 per cent.), non-quota towns £603; district total £435,456 (220 per cent.). A letter is to be sent to Group Captain'A. E. Cloiiston, Conimanding Officer R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Ohakea,' thanking him for the way the officers and men had responded to the appeal to form a National Savings group — 9(5 men had responded and this meant £2028 a year would be invested.
