! The principal evsnt of the scouting year for the Poroutawhao Boy : Scout Tfoop has been the Easter j camp at Manawatu Heads. Arriv- | ing at 3 p.m. on Good Friday, the scouts, led by Seoutmaster Gudgeon and assistant Seoutmaster D, i Green, soon had tents pitched, fire- | wood colleeted. a meal cooked and ; preparations made -for the night, ; Assisted by the Bunnythorpe, Feil'd- • ing and Longburn troops, they then presented a very enjoyable entertainment round the camp fire, Parents joumeyed from Poroutawhao to encourage their bovs at the troop's first camp and camp fire. Thereafter, the boys were busily engaged In -the various scouting activities and recreatlons, which included swimming, until the time came to break camp at 2 p.m. on Easter - Monday. This first camp : was an interesting, enjoyable and memorable one, in which the boys experienced the true spirit oi scouting. Generous support ha0 ibcsn given by the parents and especially by Messrs. McLennan J Davison and Lingard, who provided , the transport.
