Bandsmen Hononr Former Conductor
When Mr. H. Langtry stepped on to the platform as guest-conductor for the finai number rehdered by the Lower Hutt Civib Military Band ■in Levin yesterday afternoon, many of those present may not have known that it was an honour accorded him by those members of the orfginal Air Force Band who are now members of the Htitt Civic. Mr. Langtry was responsible for the formation of the first bahd in this bianch of the Services in New Zealand, and it must have been pleasing to him to see that some of his members wei'e among the compiement visiting Levin yesterday. Those - members present were Messrs. J. Mitchell (solo cornet), J. Cooper (b'assoon) , F. Redshaw (bass clarinet) , T. Dunn (solo clarinet), W. Currie (clarinet) and E. ^nfialler (bassl*.- ' Coliii 1 BaiisfieHb , of the Levin Municipai Band. who plays first baritohe, was also a member of the' original combinatlon, while Messrs. K. Mangih and R. Lestef, of Levin, joined" the band after Mr. Gladstone Hill took over the conductorship. Yesterday was a real bandsmen's day, and old times were recalle'd and freely discussed by one and all. .
