Annual Meeting of Manakau Women's Institute

The annual meeting of the Manakau Women's Instittite was held recently, when Mrs. Gardiner, of Ihakara, 'conducted the proceedings. The sedretary, Mrs. Willis, read a comprehensive resume of the year's work while the treasurer, Mrs. Dorset, presented the financial statement. The president^ Miss Cotter, extended her thanks to the committee and members for the loyal support given her during the past year. She state'd that she would not seek re-election. The competitions for the year were won as follows: — "Best fiower in my garden," Miss Cotter, Mrs. Staples and Mrs. Dorset 1 (equal) ; miscellaneous competitions, ~ Mrs. Neilson 1, Mrs. Dorset 2. The officers elected for the year were: — President: Mrs. Barberry; secretary: Mrs. Willis; treasurer: Mrs. Dorset; committee: Mesdames Hill, Bennett. E. Bryant, Shepherd, Neilsen and Bowling.
