Financial Aid For Mangakino Strikers
WELLINGTON, April 2. An announcement that the Federation of Labour had deeided to make £500 available to the New Zealand v Workers' Union for aid to the Manr ' gakino strikers, was made by Mr. K. Baxter, secretary of the Federation after a meeting of the national executive to-day. Mr. Baxter said he would accompany Mr. W. L. Wallace and Mr. Carl Hair, of the New Zealand Workers' Union, to Mangakino to-morrow as re- ' presentative of the Federation . of .Labour for discussions there on Sunday. The Federation recognised that the men were defending a basic; def mocratic principle and were entitled; -, to suppoyt in the stand . they. were taking. ' Substantial finaneial- aid was being given by the Federation which had launched a national appeal.
