r — . — Gurney and Tombs Shoot Off For Belt A good attendance of riflemen competed for the- - Horowhenua championship at Hautere on Easter Monday, including Majo'r W. N. Masefleld, the present New Zealand champion. With the enlarged rarige and number of targets shooting was finished by 5 p.m. Unfortunately light showers fell from 4 p.m. onwards, spoiling some competitors' chances. In the Horowhenua championship R. G. Gurney (Levin) an'd K. A. Tombs (Blenheim) each.scored 100. Eleven teams made keen comr petition for the handsome Fresh Food and Ice , Company Cup, Karori A winning by two points from Levin. Wanganui, one point away, was third and Upper ' Hutt fourth. Mr. J. J. Maher, M.P., in presenting his trophy of table "knives to the winner, stated it was his desire that at least one competitor's wife would benefit from • the- shdoting.
