COLOURFULL MARCH PAST.
.WELLINGTON, April 1. With tlags and banners waving more than 5(10 Girl Guides, Brownies ann Raagers marched past tlie World Chiet Guide, Lady Baden-Powell, at a rally in the grotinds of Parliament Buildings to-day. It was one of the most colourful and animated scenes yet stagen there. Before and after the eeremony Lady Baden-Powell went among the Guides and Brownies talking informally to them. .Miss Rnth Herrick, Uotninion Ghief Connnissioneer t'or Girl Guides, accompanied Lady BarlenPowell 011 her arrival. Provincial Gommissioner, Mrs. H. B. Turhott, welcomed the Ghief Guide. After the niarch past a reception attended by 400 prouiinent gnests was given in Lady Baden-Poweil's honoui* by the Prime Afinister, Air. Fraser, and Mrs. H. Kemp. The ga'thering was in the large soeial rooni at Parliament House. ".ludging by the enthusiasm yon put into your work you are likely to carry it on for a long time, " said the Prime .Minister to the Ghief Guide. He referred to her ,32 years' association with the movement and the value of botli Scouting and Guiding, and the sense of permanent values it gave to youth, so neee.ssary to-day. AT r. Fraser said he felt Lady Baden-Powell 's mission would return abundant results. The Girl- Guide movement could now say it has proved its worth, stated the guest of honour. Both it and the Scout movement were "the proved tools. " She rejoiced at the gallant and enthnsiastie 'spirit of guiding in the Dominioxi. ** '■' 1
