The representative te'ams were not as successful as had been hoped, but they : had all gained Valuable experience which should pi'pye beneficial tq them this year. r In conclusion, Mr. Gillespie thanked all those who had ' pfesented trophies, the Horowhenua Referees' Association, the St. John Ambulance Brigade and district bands for their assistance during the season,. and also all others who had contributed to the eonducting of Rugby in the district. He was pleased to see present at the ffleetmg two well-known Rugby foqtball identities and life members of the union, Messrs. J. W. Procter nnd W'Moynihan. ■' . - Refbrence to the retirement, owing to pressure of private duties, of the vice-president for the .past year, Mr. R. L. Robinson, was made oy Mr. C. E. Wiseley, speaking on behalf. of the Referees' Association, The services of Mr. Robinson WQUld be greatly missed by the union and particularly by the referees, who respected his' wisdom and greatly appreeiated his' work for Rugby. The president, endorsing Mr. Wiseley's rejmarks, also paid tribute to the work of Mr. . Robinson and added the hope that ne would retain his interest in Mie game, and could perhaps be ■ persuaded to aga'ih take an active interest in the spqrt at a later stage. Mr. Robinson suitably replied. . .
