Thanks Expressed by Food Parcel Recipient
.A letter of grateful thanks for a food parcel has been received by an Otaki rsident from Edinburgh. "We are a very grateful trio, mother, brother and myself," it opens, "and are just recovering from the excitement of opening your wonderful parcel. Our' gratitude to you for your great kindness and such a generous and welcome gift cannot be expressed in words. "How very gratifying it is to realise that although the British peoples are scattered all over the world we have friends in countries which we have never visite'd," yet the peoples of those countries think so dearly of us, in our troubles. Food shortages here are our gr'eatest problem, but as long as we have friends in New Zealand we need not fear but that our country will recover. It helps us to forget the years of bitterness." "In the parcel you sent were eheese, suet and fatV all rationed here and almost unobtainable. Once again our sincerest gratitude to you who have such generous hearts. Your kindness will not go unnoticed, and we only wish we coui'd thank you personally."
