There was a demand by the local people for improved drainage. In 1925 a commission recommended that the area be included in .the 'Buckley drainage distritt, but 'at that time the area was mainiy flax and was hot proteeted by banks from riyer floods. The local resi'dents objected to their inclusion,' and this was upheld in court". The ppsition had now altered cohsider.ably and "he was of the opinion. that the general wish. in the district was for inclusion in the Buckley drainage . district. The board is willing to have the area included in ihe district/
