The serious effect of last year's drought upon the agricultural production oi Denmark is reveaieci 111 the ofiicial crop and live-stock surveys wliieh are now compieted. These show that the Danish harvest for 1947, including grain, root crops. hay, straw, grass and green fodder, was 25 per cent. less than ' in 1946 ineasured in texins of fodder value, and the lowest for 20 years. The hread grain harvest was "only one-third of the normal yield. The poor cro-p harvest niade necessary the extensive siaugntermg oi live-stock and caused a decrease in production of dairy products. The destruction of live stoc'i and enforped exports due to lack of food caused a general reciuction oi lu per cent. m rien mark's cattle population. The survey reveals that Denmark was able to increase her butter ex ports only by reducing her own domestic rations.
