Coming-of-Age Party

Friends and relatives from Marton, Palmerston North, Shannon, Rongotea and Wellington gathered in the Weraroa Hall on a recent evening, as the guests of • Mr. and Mrs. A. Doyle, to celebrate the coming-of-age of their second scn, Brian. With Mr. J. J. Dome as M.C., dancing and games filled the first part of the evening. At a suitable juncture ,Mr. C. Melville, in a few well-chosen words,- proposed the toast of the gqest of the evening, who, after receiving the traditional key- from his father, thanked all present for their good wishes and many gifts. Humorous monologues were given by Miss Roberts, of Shannon, and items on the bagpipes by Mr. Pike, of Rongotea, while extras were played by Miss D. Ward, of Shannon. A very happy evening was brought to.. a close .with the singing of "Auld Lang Syn.e" . and the National Anthem. _ . •
