Salaries Of Aid To Britain Secretaries
GISBORNE, March 18. A strong protest o.ver the creation by the Government of highly salaried positions of organising secretaries and. other officials for the Aid to Britain campaign was made by the Chamber ot Commerce. The chamber deeided to send a letter to the Prime Minister on these lines and declarixjg it was- a gx'oss waste of public money. The chamber supported the representations of tlxe R.S.A. that salaried jobs be advertised and preference given to ex-servicemen. Mr. • T. A. Corson (president) said the appeal was not yielding results tor the £400 to £600 yearly paid to eaen organising seeretary whose task was to set np committees whieh crossed the path of voluntafy organisations.
