Auckland Retains Junior Athletic Shield

Heavy rain had deadened the ground, but " the afternoon lconditions were warm and pleasant. The Qt4g0;.success in the Lumley Shield was well achieved by a small but most capable team. The Auckland suceess in the junior competition was expeeted and in the field events the youths demonstrated particular efficieney. The elearcut win of the shield by the centre could not, however, detract from the splendid performanee by Waikato in finishing third, a point behind Welliilgton.
