Croquet Tournament
The Otaki croquet green was the scene of great activity when Mariakau ladies were entertained at a | friendly tournament. The visitors were- defeated by a very narrow " margin. Both teams had two wlns eacn, but Otaki won on points. The prize for the highest scoring cbuple went to Mrs. Evans and Miss C. Ciarke. ' ' Visitors present were greatly taken with the scientific play of IMrs. Bryant, the district president, I whose skill and ingenuity were a J special feature of the day's play. The games were under the capable management of the * Otaki ;secretary, Mrs. Percival, assisted ^by Mesdames McCreedy and Whitelaw, who, with their band of willing ^helpers, produced & luncheon of a high standard. ' The Manakau president, Mrs. Staples, voiced hearty thanks to Otaki, while Mrs. Percival, in the unavoidable absence of the president, Mrs. Cook, suitably replied.
