The statement detailed the his-(Oi-y of thc negotiations ifi the dispute uul the effort's of the national executive to settle it. It qu'oted the reply of the national executive to the Government 011 Mareh 8 in whieh the Government was informed "that a settlement couid be efl'eeted on the basfis of the1 normal ' resumption of work and ,the setting-up of a tribunal to deeide the xnatters 111 dispute and that the union would accept the decisions of such a tribunal as final and binding. " The statement said that the nationalexecutive in order to leave unexplored no aveniie for a" satisfaetory settlement I of-the dispute met the executive of the , New Zealand Master Builders' Associa- j Mon, but the dispute - had not her. 11 ( settle^.
