Million Cases of Apples For Great Britain

WELLINGTON, March 8. Two ' hundred and twenty-seven thousand cases of apples representing the first batches of a total eonsignmeift of a million cases of apples and a token shipment of 23,000 cases of pears which it is hoped to ship before the end of May, are being loaded at Wellington and Napier. The Eoyal Star is loading 80,000 cases at Napier for London, the Cordillera,, 60,000 cases at Wellington for Glasgow and the Hororata 87,000 cases " at Wellington for Avonmouth. The majority are Cox's Orange. About the end of the, month the Port Jackson will load 7CyJ00 easea of apples at Wellington for Avonmouth and the New Zealand Star 30,000 cases at Napier for London. The fruit is being sent by the apple and pear section of the Internal Marketing Department which has received a reqnest from the British Government that the million cases be shipped. by the end of May,
