Manawatu River Loop Now Opened

; The Manawatu River loop, whicii - has caused considerable. concern among the various? local bodies and residents of Foxton- generally, and has b.e.en the subject of several letter^ between the "'Foxton -Borough Council and various Government departments, has now hebn^satisfactorily settle'd to all concerned. The Public 'Works Department undertook the re-opening of the, ramp across the old Manawatu" River loopton Saturday afternoon, and it received a good fiushing on Sunday as a result. . The work was carried out by means of a mechanical loader, and a gap about five feet wide was opened at a time when the tide was practically. full o"h ' Saturday afternoon. On Sunday at high water there was a strong-, flow out from the ioop and into the old river bed connecting the ramp with -the Whirokino Cut.
