Flora Club's Interesting Evening
A very good collection of native plant photographs, the work of Mrs. A. S. Wilkinson, were shown at the Levin NatiVe Flora Club's monthly meeting. They were very clear and were- a- great cre'dit to Mfs. ''Wilkinson. Members were pleased to have the opportunity of seeing- these fine studies. ' ■ Some. pieces of dressed native .woods abo.ut 100 in number, were exhibited by , Mr. A. S. Wilkinson. These ,/showed ^ a surprising variety of. beautiful grains and- colourings, and; it was enlightening to have such' a number of different timbers brought together in a convenient form' ' fqr 1 ' comparison. It was gratifying to learn that Mr. Wilkinson so admires living trees that he never cuts a standing 'tree for samples, but uses ones which have blown down. It was . decided to advance the next outing and meeting one week for the • current month. They - are now scheduled for March 14 andx 18 respectively. The outing is to be to bush just off the Foxton Road, andmembers are to meet at the Levin Post Offlce at 10 a.m.
