21st Birthday Celebrated At Shannon
The Parish Hall, Shannon, was the rendezvous on a recent evening for between 70 and 80 guests invited by Mrs. K. S. Thomson, of Buckley, to celebrate the coming-of-age of Peggy, the eldest of her four daughters. Welcomed by the hostess 011 their arrival, the guests wished "Many happy returns of the day" to Peggy, who was charmingly attired in a beige model frock toning with her auburn hair. Mrs. T. Fuller and Mr. A. R. Mills played the piano and the accordian 1 respectively for the dances which were interspersed with humorous elocutionary numbers by Misses Lois Lind and June Roberts, songs by Margaret Sinclair, tap dances and sailor's hornpipe by "Billie" Peach and a tap dance by Catherine Stern. Competiti-on dances, streamers and confetti gave added festivity to the occasion. The M.C. (Mr. W. H. Roberts) following the serving of supper, proposed a toast to Peggy. With lights extinguished, the candles on the birthday cake "w;ere lit and blown out by the guest of honour and the cake duly cut to the accompaniment of birthday musical honours. A large autographed golden key was presented and the ceremony recorded by flashlight photographs. Thanks were expressed by Peggy for the beautiful array of gifts bestowed upon her and to one and all for making her birthday such a happy one.
