CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 20. Unanimous disapproval of the acceptance by the Director of Education, Dr. Beeby, of a post witb Unesco overseas, was expressed by tbe Canterbury Education Board today. The board considered that his supervision was required for the changes that he had introduced. Mr. A. E. Lawrence moved that an emphatic protest be made. "With" / recent happenings in New Zeaiand education and recent criticism, a gentleman so high up should at least stay to see his experiments carried out, ' ' he said. The captain was going away and the ship, with its anchors of the three R's thrown overboard, was drifting. All over the country there was criticism of recent trends. It would be Dr. Beeby 's third trip abroad in three years. If he felt called to work in another sphere he should resign. * "It might be a good thing if Dr. Beeby had ap extended trip overseas. It might he a good thing if he severed his connection with us," said Mr. F. L. Turley.
