Membership Of Ratepayers' Association Discussed
A decision not to include householders or citizens in the Levin Ratepayers' Association was made at a meeting of that body last night. The question arose when the meeting was discussing ■ the rules. The executive committee had recommended that the name of the association should be the - Levin Ratepayers' and Citizens' Association. This was strongly objected to byone of the vice-presidents, Mr. H. Rippin, who suggested that It would be qiiite possible to have a majority of citizens who eoul'd then control the body. The name was made to . include any householders who wished to join as these people indirectly paid rates through their rent, explained the president, Mr. W. Seddon. Some people might only stay in the town for a few months and during that time they would have i as much say as any other member, j said Mr. Rippin. After further discussion, the j matter was put to the meeting and jit was decided to strike out the word "Citizen" in the title. :
