Motorists Hamper Work Of Fire Brigade
Judging by the number of cafs that turned out to a fire in Can),- • bridge Street last night, petr.ol rationing is not worrying the _averr age Levin moto'rist. The flames were visible' frorp. -a fair distance and no doubt residents thought that a major outbreak had occurred. Had this been ,so, the smooth working of the brigade would have been hampered as there was a continual stream of traffic along the street. One motopist even parked alongside the engine. . ' Levin could well adopt the measnres taken in other centres attd close the street, in which a brigade is operating, to.all motor traffic'. The firemen cannot . work if hampered by inquisitive motorists. They need to be able to give fullconcentration to their work.
