DUNEDIN", Feb. .18.' Auckland Watersiders Silver Band (Conducter W/ H. Graves), won the B grade brass band championship, the second and final test piece being played before a fairly large audience 'tonight. Eleven Bands participated but the standard of playing did not appear to be up to that of the iirst night. Details — Auckland Watersiders Band: First test ;i2pts., second test 28pts., total GOpts., 1. Nelson Garrison (26pts., 29pts.), 55" . pts., 2. Palmerston North City (29pts., 25 pts.), 54pts., 3. Wellington, Boys' Institute (20pts., 27pts.), 53pts., 4. Ashburton Silver (17pts., 19pts.), and Greymouth Municipal (19pts., 17 pts.), 30pts., equal 5. Christchurch Municipal -(lOpts., 21 pts.), 31pts., 7. . First Battalion Southland llegiment (13pts., 17pts.)-, 30pts., 8. Lower Hutt Municipal (12pts. 16 pts.), 2.Spts., 9. Caversham Citizens (lftpts., llpts.), 21pts., 10. Hastings Citizens (7pts., lOpts.), IV pts., 11. The euphonium section attracted a big entry and the judge, Mr. Gray, was enthusiastic in lxis praise of the first - Ihree competitors and also of the general higli standard. Mr. Gotfin eulogised the playing in the trombone trios which, he said, caine as a pleasant surprise.
