Model By-Laws Not Favoured
A scheme for the preparation of a model set of by-laws applicable to all b'oroughs with a population of 10,000 or less was received at the j monthly meeting of the Levin ;Borough Council on Monday night. It was forwarded by the Te Kuiti Borough Council, which asked if the council would associate itself with the scheme. The by-laws would be prepared by the Municipal Association, and the drafting and printing costs would be shared by the participating local bodies. _ He would like the council to consider the fact that aknost every borough- had some peculiarities Which requiredN special by-laws framed in - their own way, said the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin. It would be difficult to find two municipalities where identical sets of by-laws could be -used. The council should not allow itself to be tied down to a scheme such as the one put forward. The council decided to take no action in the matter,
