No Great Rush To Secure Petrol Coupons
When the doors of the Levin Post Offlee opened to the public yesterday morning, there was only a srnall crowd of car ownersv waiting to collect their coup-bns. At first the. distributors were kept fairly busy but as the day wore on, the flow of applications became smaller The total at the end of the day was disappointing and not what had been expected, reported the postmaster, Mr. A. V. Morgan. The total number of people who had made application was under 200. It is hoped that there will not be a last minute rush. If. the response remains in its present state, the public would probably have to wait a little time when they did make application, said Mr. Morgan. However, if the" public increases its response to the post office's request to make early application,. the staff will be able to devote thethree days allotted during next week to the more involved work of granting special petrol lice'nces. The situation is in the hands of the public. The post offlce Will be open tomorrow night between the hours of seven and eight for the issue of the coupons.
