Ewe Fairs At Pahautanui And Otaki
The first ewe fair in Otaki for a long time was held recently in yards krndly lent by Mr. D'Ath. It was well supported hy local farmers, while buyets were present from Feilding and Manawatu. The prices were in excess of vendors' expectations. Among the quotations were the following: — Five-year ewes: A/c P. O'Rourke, 31s 6d; a/c T. O'Rourke, 33s; a/c T. B. Hillas, 32s 6d; a/c R. Stevens, 32s. Two -tooth ewes made up to 43s. The second annual ewe fair at Pahautanui drew good entries and bidding was bi'isk. Quotations were as follows: — Five-year ewes: A/c R. Lowry, 30s; a/c Blackie Estate, 30s 8d; a/c R. Mulker, 26s 8d. Five and six-year ewes: A/c J. Gray, 26s 6d. Fouryear ewes: A/c W. Nicol, 34s 6d. Others lower in the mouth brought from 23s to 29s.
