Receiyed Sunday, 7; p,m. CAiRO, Feb. 15.. Sir John Boyd Orr, director-general of the Food and Agricultural Organisation, said at the end of the organtion's. twelve-day Near East conference, that it had reached decisions of vital importance for the whole world. The implementation of "the plans agreed on would Stfhstantially contrihute to relieVing the world food shortage. Sir John expressed the hope that the World Food Council would do its utniost to get the materials and men needed to enahle the work agreed upon to begin in 1948. Besnlts would he seen in 1949-50. The conference adopted several recommendations for an early increase in the production of food crops through the improvement and extension of irrigatiop and drainage facilities in Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lehanon and Abyssinia.
