NEW YORK, Fel). 14. Turbulent flood waters from ' rain, snow and swollen rivers, have taken a two-day toll of 14 lives in eight States and niade thousands homeless. The States afTe-ted are West Virginia, Indiana, Missi.ssippi, Ohio, Ten nessee, Kentueky, Pennsylvania and Alabania. The sit nation is worst in the south, partieularly ..Central Tennessee, where ilood waters were too mueh for the great dams of the Tennessee Valley Authority and had to lie released to rush over the low eountry. In many villages and towns the residents had to lice the rising waters or were evaeualed bv the JRed Cross.
