Young Man Killed By Train On Bridge
AUCKLAND, Feb, 15. Ca ught by a train on tlie raiiway bridge over Limeburner's ereek just south of Whangarei station on .Saturday night, a young man lost his lif e, He was Athol. Williara Nordstrand, aged 23, single. The young man was fishing from the bridge when a mixed train from Auckland approaehed at 8.33 p.m. The ■ engine erew saw him on the bridge lying between the rails and when the train approaehed he juniped up and rau apparently to get clear of the. bridge, The train was travelling at 25 mjles an hour and was pulled up with the engine just over the bridge which is about II eliains long. The erew went baek but eould fnul no trace of Nordstrand and on the police being advised, a further unsuecessful search was made.- The police search was renewod this morning and just af'tor midday the body was recovered from the tidai ereek. There were extensu-e injuries but it is not certain whether Nordstrand was hit by* the train or was injured in jumping into the. water in an etl'ort to escape.
