County Approves Of Unusual Exemption

An application for an unusual type of exemption came before the Horowhenua County Council's meeting on Wednesday. Messrs. Blenkhorn and Todd, solicitors, Levin, on behalf of Mr. J. A. Kilsby, sought- exemption from that section of the Public Works Act which requires that land sub-divisions be provided with i(oad access. The application was made in respect of an area of slightly over four acres of land adjoining the Ohau River, and' which Mr. Kilsby desired to transfer to a new com,'pany formed for the . taking and selling of shingle from the river j bed. It was stated that the land i-'was unsuitable for -residential puriposes and the company inten'ded : erecting on it only 'such buildjings as were necessary to house its i plant. j After a brief discussion, the j council agreed to the exemption subj-ect to the approval of the Chief Surveyor. ! — ;
