(trierson. He said that while it was toi early to atteinpt an assessment of tlu linal results, it was gratifying that onl\ ti small proportion would show any per manent disability in two years' time. ' ' To remove any misapprehension that may exist as the result of report; concerning the treatment of poliomvel itis cases in the Auckland Hospital, 1 have obtaineil an ■interim report froie Hr. Elizabeth Hughes concerning thc treatment of all positive cases admittei to hospital," ATr. Grierson* said. "Th following information is taken fron that report: — A total of 110 positivi i-tises has been admitted. Of thesi seven cases have died of respirator; ttnd/or bulbar paralysis. Xone of thesc were referred to physiotherapy. Twent; patients have recovered without para Ivsis or serious stifi'ness requir.int' physiotherapy and have b.een discharg ed ak probable coin])lete recoveries. Fourtee.n positive cases with varying degrees of involvement have been treat ed by Kenny technicians. All the re inaining cases have received treatmen" from regular physiotherapists and al are making satisfgctory prrrgress in \-iew of the extenl of their involvemenr Of these cases 45 have recovered sutficientlv for discharge to their own homes and will have no permanent disability although thev will require supervision and physiotherapy as out patients for a varying length of time One new suspect, a ATaori hnv, agei two, from the city area, was admitted to hospital today.
